artisan sock (heavy fingering weight)

This superwash fingering weight merino wool, custom-milled exclusively for Hazel Knits, has a tight twist giving you beautiful stitch definition. The 10% nylon provides added strength making it perfect for socks, but in colors this pretty, it is a great choice for shawls, sweaters and mittens as well. Artisan Sock is on the heavier side of fingering weight yarns and in some cases be a suitable substitute for sport weight.

• 90% superwash merino, 10% nylon
• 400 yards (365 meters), 120 grams (skeins put up by yardage, weight may have slight variance.)

Gauge:

• socks: 8 stitches = 1 inch / 32 stitches = 4" on size US 1-2 needle (2.25mm - 2.75mm)
• accessories and garments - up to 6 stitches = 1" / 24 stitches = 4", needle size varies depending on your desired gauge and knitting style.

Recommended care:

Hand launder with mild, wool friendly soap in tepid water. Lay flat to dry.

While we recommend hand washing to preserved the color and life of your knitted or crocheted item, Artisan Sock may be machine washed on gentle cycle and machine dried at low temperature.

blueprint (light fingering weight)

This superwash fingering weight merino wool, custom-milled exclusively for Hazel Knits, is a lighter weight version of our Artisan Sock. This yarn is perfect for sock and the 20% nylon provides added strength. Blueprint is soft, yet crisp, and with the higher put-up, it is perfect for shawls and other garments / accessories.

• 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon
• 440 yards (402 meters), 100 grams (skeins put up by yardage, weight may have slight variance.)
• 8 stitches per inch
• US size 1-2 needle

Listed gauge is for sock knitting. May be worked up a looser gauge for other accessories and garments.

entice (fingering weight)

Entice is a luxurious blend of 70% merino, 20% cashmere and 10% nylon with Hazel Knits signature tight twist. Even softer than Artisan sock, yet has the same beautiful stitch definition an durability, Entice is perfect for next-to-the-face knits or those extra special socks.

• 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon
• 400 yards (365 meters), 113 grams (skeins put up by yardage, weight may have slight variance.)
• 8-9 stitches per inch
• US size 1-2 needle

Recommended care:

lively dk (dk weight)

With the same tight twist our Artisan Sock yarn is known for, Lively DK is a heavier weight with a noticeable sproingyness. This yarn can be used for any project calling for a heavy DK or light worsted weight yarn. And since it is superwash, it's perfect for quick baby knits!

• 90% superwash merino, 10% nylon
• 275 yards (251 meters), 130 grams (skeins put up by yardage, weight may have slight variance.)

Gauge:

• 5.5 stitches = 1" / 22 stitches = 4"
• US size 5-7 (3.75mm - 4mm) needle/hook

Recommended care:

cadence (worsted weight)

Cadence is a worsted weight yarn with three plump, round plies of merino wool. The perfect ratio of loft, twist and bounce will make Cadence your next go-to for sweaters, accessories, blankets and anything else you can dream up.

• 100% superwash merino
• 200 yards (183 meters), 115 grams (skeins put up by yardage, weight may have slight variance.)

Gauge:

• 4.5 - 5 stitches = 1 inch / 32 stitches = 4"
• US 7-8 (4.5mm - 5mm) needle / hook

filigree pure merino (lace)

This merino yarn is a four ply, yet it is less than half the thickness of the Artisan Sock. I am so pleased with the twist on this lace yarn - not too tight, yet, not splitty. It’s quite nice to work with. It’s also a superwash, so while it’s doubtful you’d ever machine wash a shawl or other lacy little thing, it’s nice to know it won’t come out in a felted heap if that does accidentally happen.

• 100% superwash merino
• 1200 yards (1097 meters), 160 grams (skeins put up by yardage, weight may have slight variance.)
• 3-5 stitches per inch
• US size 3-5 needle

Recommended care:

Hand launder in tepid water. Lay flat to dry. Although this yarn is superwash merino, we do not recommend
