THIS IS FOR A HARDCOPY OF THE PATTERN TO BE SENT VIA MAIL.
The Parterre shawl features geometric lines and floral patterns, much like the gardens that inspired the name. Reverse stockinette segments separate a center lace panel from two smaller lace panels at the tips. A lace border ties it all together beautifully. This is a lovely spring shawl to wear the next time you wander through Versailles, or your favorite
garden closer to home.
An i-cord cast-on is used to start the shawl. Any cast-on may be
substituted; this one was chosen to match the look of the i-cord edge stitches.
Parterre requires 400 yards of fingering weight yarn. Hazel Knits
recommends: Artisan Sock, Entice MCN, Divine or Piquant Lite, each of which has 400 yards. You can find those yarns here. Shown in Cirrus.
Gauge is 22 stitches over 4 inches - AFTER BLOCKING.
Additional materials: US 7 (4.5mm) 24-inch circular needle and a stitch marker.
About the Designer, Melissa Goodale:
Mel spends her days in Seattle dreaming up new designs and playing with yarn. Her projects expand to fill the space available. Luckily, this doesn’t seem to bother her loving husband and two sons.
